Comment: A logarithmic scale for deathtolls

A comment of mine reposted from Vox Popoli:

However, I don’t think a riot or 10 is completely impossible either.

Slightly OT, I read this wrong and had the idea to invent a logarithmic scale for describing wars/genocides/ethnic conflicts, similar to the Richter scale. The units of measurement would obviously be deaths, using powers of ten:

Description — Deathtoll — Example
—————————————
0L*– 0 deaths — No conflict
1L — 10 deaths — A nasty pileup
2L — 100 deaths — A mass murder
3L — 10e3 deaths —

6L — 10e6 deaths — Biannual African holocaust

10L — Everybody dies — The sun blew up

*L just stands for logarithmic.

I’m undereducated and there’s nothing new under the sun, so kindly point me in the direction of the already-invented, widely-used scale.

Aeoli

I really should reformat that as a proper table…someday.

Maybe do this later?
