I was feeling pretty shit today (spent too much time thinking about problems without solutions), but I did get to the gym. I told the Last of the Neanderthals this, and requested a change in schedule: skip shoulder day and go straight to chest/bicep. He was obviously quite amenable to the suggestion.
When you feel like ass, the best thing to do is knock the shit out of yourself. (Why yes, I do have a talent for metaphor.) So I went for broke on the bench press and bumped my heavy set up to 225 for the first time. I got three reps (The Neanderthal curled another while I assisted somewhat from below). I felt great for the rest of the evening.
The old women had it right; men are simple creatures.
