I’ve been reading through Tom Kratman’s EveryJoe columns like a man possessed. And I ran into this:
The Arab private? He’s no more a coward than anybody else. Indeed, as an individual, I might rate him above, or even substantially above, the human norm. But he is just one man, alone. What do you think?
With us, the very broad us within the western military tradition and some eastern military traditions, or with Israelis, who are very western, “It’s all of us against all of them. They’re toast.” With him? With that poor dumb-shit Arab private? “It’s all of them against me alone. I’m toast.” He knows no one in his unit cares about him; after all, he doesn’t care about any of them, either. They’re just not family. So when that private is placed in the loneliest position in the world, the modern battlefield? He runs or surrenders at the first sign things are going badly. (He’ll be fine as long as they are going well, though. Note: Things rarely go well.) Defeat is a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy that has been fulfilled so often at this point that an Arab who didn’t expect it probably ought be locked up for his own good. What do you think?
Add in the fantasy mindset. Don’t forget “Insh’allah,” (Which is like “mañana,” but without the sense of urgency) which makes it somewhat impious to train really well since it is all the will of God anyway. Insh’allah also provides an excuse for bad behavior on the battlefield. Add in a set of social values that despise and loathe physical labor.
I suggested in footnote four, below, that there is a way to make better Arab units, but it has three severe limitations and problems. The first of these is closely related to what I said above, Arabs rarely if ever can form bonds of loyalty and love with non-blood relations. Hence, one forms units of blood relations. They will fight like hell for each other, their fathers and uncles, their brothers and cousins, and for the glory of the clan.
Why Are Arab Armies So Generally Worthless?
Combine this with the fact that drone strikes on weddings (taken as metaphor for the last 50 years of American intervention in Arabia) create precisely the sort of insurgents needed to populate these familial units, operating independently to avenge their honor. They may make use of the loose command structure of ISIS, or maybe not.
Contrarily, I’ve hypothesized that the West’s overwhelming superiority in warfare has historically been due to higher average associative horizon (possibly due to wheat consumption) which allows for autonomous units to collaborate through shared idealism. This includes our technologists and civilian populations, which act as autonomous support units. I believe it is therefore not an accident that the total war and scorched earth doctrines immediately followed the success of secular materialism.
In the near future, we may see the culture war get down to business at the same time as the Arabs are finally getting their act together, and at the same time as 4GW comes to predominate. (This presumes 4GW will indeed dominate in the clash of civilizations, which presupposes the continued proliferation of high-bandwidth information technology.) So long as it remains under pressure from an outside force, Arab culture seems to be custom-built for 4GW.
White culture, on the other hand, is based on fighting for ideological reasons like liberty, justice, Queen and country, the revolution of the proletariat, or God. It does not matter that- behind the ideological bluster- the politicians, who order the generals to order the men into battle, are generally motivated by political and economic purposes. They aren’t the ones who have to win the war. That’s up to the guys who think they’re fighting for democracy or whatever. This sort of autonomous idealism is not well-suited to fighting both Marxists at home and Mohammedans at the borders.
On the other hand, I still think that the other contestants for world domination (Russia, the other East, Islam) have continued to exist at the discretion and sufferance of the West. This may no longer be the case today, but it certainly was for as long as nuclear war was a unilateral threat. I believe it would be the case again if the West could get its shit together and stop acting like a bunch of asylum patients.
In conclusion: the way to win the clash of civilizations is to pick up stakes elsewhere and first root out the traitors at home. The way to lose it is to continue doing exactly what we’re doing, even beyond all common sense and overwhelming evidence to the contrary, in order to keep up appearances. You might guess what I expect.
On the other hand, all hope is not lost. First, we’d have to spread the word to our nation’s soldiers that they aren’t fighting for us right now. I think they sense this already, but we need to say it explicitly. Second…we wouldn’t necessarily even need to overthrow Israel’s deathgrip on our military apparatus. We would just need to convince the Zionists that the apparitions in their minds, of white Nazis hiding in every closet, are less immediately dangerous than the geometric growth of ISIS.
