So a while I went looking at some foot fetish porn, particularly to see if there are any women who express this oddity. My impression is that foot fetishists are like computer science majors: generally “neurodiverse” and overwhelmingly male.
Another particular fact struck me: they seem to agree on the aesthetics of “attractive” feet. Most of them say “everybody likes different feet” before saying that they- personally- like small, soft-looking feet with slender toes. Apparently a strong farmer’s tan can be kind of a turnoff but that’s like boobs or anything else. Same for hygiene and cleanliness. More to the point, I have never seen anybody who was into something strange like Morton’s toes or broad feet. No gay foot love for me I guess :’-(.
Now we already know that this probably isn’t an evopsych thing, but rather a developmental perversion of some kind. But if it were strictly a strong association formed during sexual development, we’d expect each person to be attracted to different sorts of feet that were similar to the original. Maybe I lack the fine-tuned tastes necessary to make this judgment, but as proper evidence I note also a distinct lack of vocabulary here. Most sexual activities yield specialized lexicons (“butterface”, etc.), yet I find nothing.
Feet are also a strikingly common paraphilia. This could be explained by the fact that feet are a huge nerve group in the somatosensory cortex right next to the genitals. But we know people don’t accidentally agree in mass. Maybe they are just agreeing on healthy feet = healthy womb? Why not healthy feet with Morton’s toe then?
Here’s another weird thing that may or may not be related: for all my associative horizon and psychological theorizing, I still can’t figure out for the life of me what is the deal with women and shoes. From looking at the collections they amass you’d think they were the foot fetishists, and yet they are uniformly weirded out by the idea of sexualizing feet. Why then do they describe some shoes as “sexy”? I agree some shoes are nicer looking, and heels are great, but not all “sexy” shoes are heels.
If I weren’t already crazy all this would be maddening. No GENIUS today folks just observations from one of our generation’s great minds, yours truly.
