Some half-baked speculation on g

Well, it’s the end of the day and I need a post because CRUNCHYCHRISTMAS. So here’s a thought.

Maybe social virtues such as group altruism are eventually part of g (maybe at mean IQ > 110, leading to group selection). A natural environment which supports “group” level g, as in k selection, tends to be more and more specific as g increases (cold but not too cold, having a loving mother but also lots of anxiety from life stressors). Therefore it is more fragile to changes in the environment, because for instance even slight warming disproportionately favors R shift. So if you think of an R and k spectrum, then raising “group” g will require pushing the band of possible supporting conditions toward the k end, but also make it thinner.

A bit of stream of consciousness:

Thiswould explain why the harsher climates of northern Europe contain the most cucked countries. Scandanavians, Germanics and Anglos require heavier K-selection than what we currently have in the West. Also provides yet another piece to the collapse of the Neanderthals, Saps outbred and conquered only as quickly as the glaciers receded. Saps (and Cro-Mags) were better adapted to a slightly more r-environment brought about by the warming at the beginning of the Holocene.

Am now wondering how quickly K-selection will begin with the oncoming Maunder Minimum and if the Little Ice Age coupled with the Black Death provided the necessary K-selection to push the West into the Renaissance and the eventual industrial revolution. Beginning in Italy, the first part of Europe to experience significant temperature change aside from Greece (which was under the Ottoman yoke) so led early on, but being the first to experience warmth meant first to experience r-selection. This meant the progress for culture and tech would have to move continously northward ahead of r-selection, directly what we experienced over the course of history.

Pretty obvious why England went on to rule the world, most northern country unharmed by enemies. Compare with the Germanics who were always at war with one another, or with Slavs and Muslims.

Wow, here I thought the explanation was so poor that no one would understand it, but you’ve gone and reimagined my original inspiration.

Yes, I agree completely. In individual terms, naturally anxious people (NW Euros) will invent reasons to feel anxious if they don’t already live in anxiety-producing times.

My comment would be an example of your last post, reactivity followed by formalization. At some point I’m going to need a blog so that I can do this with my own interests, mainly focused on aesthetics. There are no aesthetic oriented blogs in the reactosphere/orthosphere/edenosphere. We’re needlessly ceding territory to the enemy.

I would absolutely read that. Let me know when you want to do that, and I’ll do a starter post that you can react to. It helps a lot to do it that way, seriously.
