“The average reproductive cost to the individual, defined as risk times average cost of social reprisals, is higher for moral policing than moral defection.”
This is expected because women prefer to reproduce with amoral (dark triad) men, and because moral policing violates rule three of getting along with neurotypicals: don’t be a buzzkill. This means that where women are around, the risk of social costs for policing is very high (one acquires the reputation for being judgmental and is invited to fewer social functions–just ask cops). Insofar as moral policing is seen is attractive, we expect this is generally (but not always) a peacocking effect of the policer demonstrating immunity to social stigma and significantly higher status than the policed, which is attenuated by the cost of being a buzzkill.
If the Anti-Individualism Hypothesis is correct, it follows that morality policing must be a group concern with no liberal or capitalist solution. This is because if human freedom and fulfillment were maximized (the goals of liberalism and capitalism, respectively) the genetics predisposing individuals to amoralism (signalled by moral defection) would breed out other strategies. Therefore, we expect genetic selection for altruism will only occur in group selection where the group ethos includes religious justification for moral self-sacrifice.
