Vader as Ahriman

Shitpost for Ken. I really should have figured this one out sooner, what with the whole “black leather skull knight” thing going on.

Here’s the accompanying associative horizon fodder: http://www.forcematerial.com/home/2016/12/02/the-origin-of-darth-vader-the-look

As always, the best art comes from designing the characters first straight from the collective unconscious, then writing the story as post-facto rationalization.

Since I’m here anyway, Hazanko from Outlaw Star falls into the Ahriman type as well: https://outlawstar.fandom.com/wiki/Hazanko

Notable qualities for both entries: telekinesis, mempo mask, and deep voice with echo. Vader has the tragic thing with Padme going on, but the story would be close to perfect if he were on a mission to revive her like Gendo Ikari. I especially like how the Death Star is basically a cross between Cyborganize, Ahriman’s tower of terror, and a mechanical Eye of Sauron (i.e. Leviathan).

Hell, throw Garland from FF9 and Shredder from Ninja Turtles in the pot too.

I should do this sort of character design visual analysis with all the archetypes we talk about around here.

Yes. He’s listed here as Ahriman in ‘fiction and popular culture’:

Then Vader’s force ability incarnates as magnetism (‘natural and universal phenomena’) at the end of Empire when he BTFOs Luke by throwing a bunch of metal things at him.

And Palpy (Lucifer’s) force ability incarnates as electricity (‘natty and universal phenomena’) at the end of Jedi when he BTFOs Luke by shocking him.

    Also Kefka and Gestahl

I’d make the correction here that Kefka is the Anima/Leviathan/Sorath.

      • Aeoli Pera says:

Androgyny is a prominent feature of the level above Ahriman.

        • Aeoli Pera says:

Maybe Lucifer is in fact the same thing as Sorath and the Anima. I’d have to think about it.

            No.

Luciferic forces (greed, lust, hedonism, etc.) affirm life, even if they may be short sighted.

Ahrimanic forces are ostensibly a systematized, cold, rational way to fulfill luciferic impulses but instead take all the magic out of life, as there is nothing but the material.

(Cue Apollo vs Dionysus parallels; “The Birth of Tragedy”)

Christ is analogous to the buddhist middle way (at least in regards to luciferic impulse; ahrimanic materialism is rejected)

Sorath= black sun (the opposite of the sun’s ‘holy energy’ per steiner)
Sorath is the negation of humanity.
Or to his followers- the ‘something greater’ than man and God.
And it always takes a sacrifice to make something great, and to wipe away the old…

(Sorath as critique of literal interpretation of ‘overman’? I think its a useful frame)

            Yoshii/Lux=Lucifer
            Sagi-numa/theo-normal=Ahriman
            Kanno=Sorath

I’m not very well versed in the steiner-verse so details may be wrong but I’m confident in the general point- they aren’t at all the same (anima included).

              >Luciferic forces (greed, lust, hedonism, etc.) affirm life, even if they may be short sighted.

Ah, I just thought of a neurochemical path to Sorath (at least the life negation part).

              Fry your reward system.
Lots of real life examples to back that up.

              IE- famous 90s grunge singers.
See also- Gen Z and tech usage/entertainment addiction.

            • Aeoli Pera says:

Yeah, that appears to be how it works for hedonism-not-properly-understood.

              >the steiner-verse

I was going to say “I would watch that anime”, then I had a thought and googled “stein’s gate steiner” and learned that anime may exist: https://steins-gate.fandom.com/wiki/Reading_Steiner

Full disclosure: I watched the first episode a while back and decided it wasn’t for me. Now I might watch it.

            • Aeoli Pera says:

Re: Luciferic vs. Ahrimanic, I suspect the original behelit story is about Lucifer (Griffith) making it to the top and becoming Ahriman.

        • Obadiah says:

          >Androgyny is a prominent feature of the level above Ahriman.

M-Front and T-Back are basically “Lucifer” traits; T-Front and M-Back are basically “Ahriman” traits

          >I’d make the correction here that Kefka is the Anima/Leviathan/Sorath.

I don’t think the anima is the same thing as Sorath; the anima is basically your unconscious mirror-self. When you seek out a spouse with whom you have ‘chemistry’ you’re unconsciously seeking your anima. Polarity; opposites unite; etc

Kefka is basically the extraverted personality taken to its maximally-pathological and dysfunctional condition; he’s essentially Satan:

          https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/8/83/FFXIV_Kefka_concept.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190521222452

          • Obadiah says:

            >I don’t think the anima is the same thing as Sorath; the anima is basically your unconscious mirror-self. When you seek out a spouse with whom you have ‘chemistry’ you’re unconsciously seeking your anima

Which is part of how the whole perpetual soul-generation business works. Our souls seek out our opposite, we try to unify with each other/our anima (or ‘eat’ each other as you would say) and it generates a new soul

            >Kefka is basically the extraverted personality taken to its maximally-pathological and dysfunctional condition

The way I’ve always conceived it is that Lucifer is the evil traits associated with extraversion and ahriman is the evil traits associated with introversion. Sorath is basically a combination of the worst of L&A while the Christ Consciousness is like the virtuous reconciliation of the polar/unstable/chemically-reactivelike L&A traits. Sorath is the polarity or reaction of these L&A traits with the bad end. So Kefka starts like Lucifer but by the end he has absorbed and integrated Ahriman’s “heavy and mighty” or “masculine” traits in the most evil way possible, becoming Sorath

  3. Obadiah says:

    >what with the whole “black leather skull knight” thing going on.

“Adam Schiff in West Hollywood on Saturday night as Ahriman”

  4. Heaviside says:

Aquino said once that Darth Vader was an archetype of Setian values or some cornball shit like that. I think Star Wars was created as propaganda by his circle to make satanists look “cool” (this could only work in a juvenile context like Star Wars), like how the mafia glamourized themselves with movies like the Godfather (that they helped create). There’s a lot of unusual coincidences here.
