I’m off in my head wondering what it is about white people that makes them bad at being Hollywood.
I can’t imagine getting even five people to work together on a creative project for a full year.
now I’m circling back to our previous thoughts about “PUA but for civic engagement”
it’s one of those days where i’m imagining gamifying things so scores of NEETs end up competing to do things like “corrupt a local political” or whatnot in minecraft.
Not condoning or recommending illegal activity, of course. obey the law
We respect the law here.
definitely don’t do illegal things
yeah, coordination on creativity is hard. i tend to think this is because creativty is inherently unstructured and chaotic
Re: scores of NEETs, it can’t actually be NEETs because they’re defined by their inability to get along with people.
that is exactly why the thought of mobilizing them to play social/political/status games was funny to me
It’s like why you can’t do an offshore nation of shipsteaders.
Your plan is to take a bunch of people whose single defining characteristic is an inability to get along with people in any of hundreds of landside nations, put them in a flotilla, and expect them to get along with each other?
Not a high-IQ plan Mr. Thiel.
But still, it feels like taking things over should be easy.
- Have group
- Find small power center
- Get one hired
- Get all hired
- You’re in charge
I think the trouble is that everybody is a nomad, so you can’t have group.
And the people who aren’t nomads (e.g. fundamentalist Christians in small towns) tend not to want power because they’re happy in their communities already.
So the nomads would have to all find enough stability at the same time in the same place to take something over. But you’d also need all of them to be smart and functional enough to shut up about politics at work, even when they’re the majority.
Even if you’re 2/3 of the local manufacturing plant, you can’t be going “Hey Brad, 1488 lol amirite?”
Real mafias do omerta.
Pretend mafias are desperate for a feeling of comradery.
